While Dr. Sharp recommends that patients schedule exams at least every six months, some patients may need to schedule appointments more frequently depending on the current state of their oral health. More frequent cleanings may be necessary for patients suffering from gum disease, or for those with an underlying medical condition such as diabetes or heart disease. Due to the constant flux of hormones, expectant mothers may also need to receive additional dental care to maintain their oral health during pregnancy.
